Animal Race — the order they finish is the ranking
Each name gets an animal in the starting gate, and at the whistle they race to the finish line. In order mode, the order everyone crosses becomes the ranking. The result is fixed by fair random numbers the moment you start, and the race is animated to finish in that order.
How to use Animal Race
On a pixel-art racetrack, name-tagged horses, rabbits, turtles, ducks and puppies dash for the finish line. Live commentary bubbles call every change of lead, and the order they cross the line is the ranking.
- Set the number of items, the names and how many to pick (or choose order), then press Start.
- Press the Go button or the Space bar and the animals burst out of the starting gate at the whistle.
- Animals are ranked in the order they cross the line. Picking one? The winner takes it. Picking several? They win in the order they finish.
Great for
It shines when everyone needs a place in line, like presentation order or a cleaning rota. Other pickers animate only 1st place, but the race shows the whole order as everyone crosses the finish line.
Is the result fair?
Whichever style you choose, the result is decided the moment you press Start, using your browser’s cryptographic random numbers (crypto.getRandomValues). Animations and surprise events only present a result that is already fixed, so throw strength or timing can never change it. When you pick several, the same item never comes up twice.
Frequently asked questions
- If the leader gets caught at the end, did the result change?
- No. The winners and the ranking are fixed the moment you start, and the race is animated to finish in that order. A leader being caught at the end is just for fun.
- Are some animals faster than others?
- No. A turtle can win just as easily as a horse. Animals are mixed in for fun and have nothing to do with the result.
- What is the photo finish?
- Now and then 1st and 2nd cross almost together, the screen freezes and a photo finish decides the order. It is only an animation, and the result stays the same.
